Because the people designing carbon seat posts should apply the same friction factor face as aluminum/steel. If not, then you get problems of slipping.

The only difference between aluminum and carbon seat posts is the friction factor of the faces...not any other magical properties.

Seems to me like the people designing the posts made too many shortcuts...that or they assume perfect road conditions...
