It was a balmy -5F this morning. The coldest I've seen since I moved here in 2003.
I wonder if we've ever met out on the road? I ride from Poston & Wildcat to Chatfiield and on up Deer Creek Canyon road 4-5 times a week. Since I retired at age 50 in 2003, I get to ride during the prime times - weekdays before it gets too hot in the summer and progressing toward later starts to get the warmest possible temps as the weather gets colder. I rarely ride on the weekends. I still managed to get in 6400 miles this year.
You won't see me on the road unless the temperature is well into the forties. I hate riding in really cold weather and I don't ride in the rain either, but it's hard to find rain here.
In the winter I ride a fluid trainer an hour at a time, 4-5 days a week. I concentrate on heavier torques that approximate climbing, rather than spinning. I add in some leg presses, hanging knee raises, and other upper body weight lifting until the heavy cycling season arrives.
