Thankfully Soviet times are over, and I have no idea why Specialized would glorify a defunct repressive regime with one of their bikes. Does the Berlin model have a swastika on it? Moscow is a vibrant and modern city, why would they choose such a terrible symbol of the city?
I think it is more of a homage to Soviet constructivism in modern (1930's) design and graphic arts. The Soviet Union had a strong artist culture that flourished alongside that of the Bauhaus in Germany, Futurist design trends in Italy and the Art Deco movement in the USA.
