The Veloce's have somewhere north of 3000 miles on them. I used that bike for the double centuries and other long organized rides this year. Early in the year I had a compact double with a short cage 2007 rear Chorus. Switched to a triple mid year with a medium cage 2007 Chorus. I also tried a long cage Comp Triple rear just a few months ago, same results.

The other thing I noticed which DaveSSS can probably describe is using 2009 levers with 2007 Chorus Skeleton brakes is terrible. The pull ratio or whatever it is called sucks. Now that the bike (2007 Jamis Eclipse Steel/Carbon) has 2008 Chorus levers, the brakes are powerful and modulate very well.
