Fastest one I have on record is on my mongrel high-tensile steel Gary Fisher commuting mountain bike, down the Charles Road descent north of Spokane, with a tailwind. It's about an 8% grade. One of these days I'll haul the Paramount out there with the Syntace C2s installed and try for 60mph+.
Not very daring, though. Daring is when I was in my 20s and was averaging 32-35mph down Mt. Spokane, including five hairpin corners, on a Schwinn Voyageur touring bike. Exciting
