HA! Good one!

I was dripping again this morning as I almost ate $5!T on the way to work from physical therapy (old sports injuries - shoulders). NOLA was in a flash flood warning. I had to take to the sidewalk along one section of 4-lane because the water was deep on the roadway. The water was about three inches deep on the sidewalk give or take. As I approach a high curb (about 10 inches high) to drop down onto the roadway at a major intersection my front wheel hit some gooey, greasy clay under a few inches of water and slipped sideways several inches before grabbing the concrete curb. No cars were involved (because the road was under water) but it still would have hurt to go down just then.

I got hammered all the way to PT (about 2 miles), then all the way to work (about 5 miles). Full on rain kit. Helmet cover, rain jacket, my new Marmot rain pants, SealSkin socks - the works. We are in the wettest December in recorded history just now. Lots of sketchy moments lately. Been riding REAL tame too. Can't see potholes on flooded roads, lousy breaking distances, effed-up visibility. God help us down here. Ground is so saturated that my fence is starting to just lay down and hundred year old trees are just lying down too. Ridiculous.
