replace/extend threaded steerer?
I know this has been addressed in BM before but I want to see what the builders have to say...
the situation - new langster has an ugly poorly chromed fork. friend has a beautiful chrome campy fork but the steerer is too short for my 61 cm frame.
is it possible/good idea/worth it to braze a new steerer on to the campy fork? or cut and extend with an interior sleeve and spacer? or will the cost of doing this quickly approach the 125 of a new spicer fork (i.e. what would you charge approximately for this, if you'd even consider doing it?) I'm pretty confident I could do the splice myself for the cheapness, run a pin or two through both for safety. Going this route, would a braze or mig weld be preferrable?
deep down i know i should just quit whining about the ugly finish and ride the damn thing till it breaks, i'm mainly just curious about the possibility. 100+ is a pretty stupid amount to spend purely for aesthetics...
