vtjim- I was wondering what sort of hub you were riding. My last job (very interesting, more bike commuters than drivers at that job, we were crowding the break room with bikes), my boss was riding a Rollof and had trouble whenever the temps were mid twenties or below. He spoke with the importer and was advised to go to lighter weight lubricant for the winter, although I can't remember what they recommended.
It's a Shimano of some sort but I'm not a gear-head so I couldn't recite the exact model. I'm sure it's just a mess inside. It doesn't even "tick" any more when I'm coasting and I haven't had it cleaned in a long, long time. I'm not the nicest person to my equipment.
