Got them on the tandem. The work great. I prefer my speedplays, but since we use the tandem for both club rides and casual pie rides, we can get most of the benefit of gages or clipless without the special shoes. Just slid you foot in at an angle and straighten it out and it gets "locked" in. Just like clipless pedals, throw your heel out to "un-clip"

Try to avoid stepping on the loop as it gets crushed and makes it kinda hard to get your foot in.

Besides, my wife is only a casual rider, so the expense and "fear factor" of shoes and clipless pedals are 2 things I'm glad to avoid. I''m also glad I don't have to swap pedals for the club rides. The only thing I don't like about them is that the strap sometimes cuts into my foot when I ride with sandals. Forget flip flops. Oh, and also you need the metal pedals, which precludes barefoot pedaling, but then that's not safe anyway.

I plan to get these when I get a beater road bike. Go for it.
