We switched the stock cluster on my wife's Jamis Trail-X 1.0 to the 7 speed Megarange and with the 34 tooth gear, she doesn't have to go into the "granny" chainwheel unless we are "loaded" for touring and heading up mnt. passes but she LOVE's the 34 tooth gear with the 34 tooth middle chainwheel. (Note: we've converted our MTB's into more road worthy touring hybrids, to do overnite and weekend road tours out of Colorado Springs, CO. FYI)
