I had a similar chainring problem on the inner of a MT bike triple. The steel did not deform so much and it was the small ring, so there was much less vulnerability. Either something is working to loosen the bolts or they were not put on securely/correctly. In general, a lot of things can come loose in the first 100 miles -- I need to check my new bike carefully and this is a good reminder.
