The first rule of "Snipe Club"...

... is you don't talk about "Snipe Club".

I always hated eBay snipers. But I am now a believer in sniping.

I always hated losing out to snipers. They would let me think I was about to win that really cool temporal discombobulator only to outbid me with seconds until the auction closed. Then BAM! They jumped in and crushed my bid. Those bastages!!

I also hated watching people edge up to my max bid $1 at a time. You could see it happening. The guy would bid the minimum increment... then sit for a few minutes and talk himself into bidding again until 10 bids later he pushed my max aside... but my early bid gave him time to think and talk himself into placing each successive bid.

Between the snipers and the creepers, I couldn't win an auction. Then I tried using a sniping service.

Wow. I love it. I will never go back to early bidding. Sniping is the way to go.

Placing your bid at the last minute won't keep someone else from outbidding you if they truly want it more, but it eliminates the bidding wars and it eliminates the creepers. No more do they have the time to think about whether they want to outbid you. Either they place the bid or they don't... but when my snipe lands with 4 or 5 seconds to go in the auction then the creepers don't have time to react.

Plus using my sniping service gives me a chance to cancel my bid. Since my bid isn't actually placed on eBay until the last second, all I have to do is log into my sniping account before the bid is placed and cancel the snipe. Done.

I spent a lot of time trying to get 7400 series Dura Ace stuff to equip my Raleigh Comp GS... only to lose auction after auction. But with sniping, I was able to complete my 7400 DA group without getting into bidding wars or overpaying.

I love it. Do you snipe? Why or why not?
