I generally just do the same thing manually.

Depends on the item. If I'm just low-balling I'll often just bid early and be done.

Sometimes I "head fake" the creepers with low initial bid - so it's on my radar - then come back with my real level at the close.

Maybe some day I'l be more advanced and use a sniping service. But probably not. I don't even know how to text message
