You at least need disc compatible, and if you go with centerlock, and are going to use a six bolt rotor, you need the adapter. I agree, a six bolt hub is the way to go, if possible, if you're going to use BB7's.

Honestly, a six bolt Shimano hub should not be hard to find, even though it won't be from the very latest generation since those are apparently all centerlock. Just a couple months ago, I built wheels for my new mountain bike using Shimano XT 6 bolt hubs and BB7 brakes. I had no trouble finding the hubs.
