mounting trainer tire

I know tire mounting has been discussed on the forum several times, and I have read all of the posts that I could find, but I have never been stuck like this before. I am trying to mount a Continental trainer tire on an older Campy Scirroco wheel for use as my dedicated trainer wheel for the winter (this is one of the older ones with the aero profile). I am one of those people who shake my head in wonder when others have trouble mounting a tire- I generally use no tools and (aside from a little grunting and transient sore thumbs) have no trouble. But no matter what I do I cannot get this one on. I struggled for over 30 minutes- used the soapy water trick, even tried tire irons (with much trepidation), but I can't even come close. It seems much, much harder than any other clincher that I have ever used ( I usually use Michelin Pro3's on Fulcrum wheels).

Any suggestions or secrets that I am not aware of?
