The following posts will tell the rest of the story. Figured I'd use up some of my Saturday afternoon sharing the details

I removed the clamp and unused shifter. Now, using one chainring up front with the original crankset wasn't an option:



The original Lyotard pedals are not french threaded so I got lucky there.
I decided to use the original crankset from my Trek build. The large ring on the Trek SR Silstar had gotten bent during shipping when I bought this bike on the eBay. (The Trek got a nice set of period correct Sugino Mighties) So this SR crank and the small inner 40T ring would finally see some use:



I had some spare short stack bolts too
