I would personally go with the Trek. but i would go 1.5 . i have a roommate that has an 08 and he LOVES the thing. i have had 3 trek's and all of them have been VERY good bikes.
I also looked at the 1.5, but for 200 I got 105, higher quality aluminum and a paint job that I liked much more. The components being more important a reason lol.
Got everything I needed while there except a light. Roads here have next to no lighting and most my riding except on weekends will be at dusk (after work). Been searching the electronics forum but other than the home depot flashlight with twofish clamps all other options that really light up a dark road seem to be in the $100 plus range.
