Thought I'd pass along a neato tip I read years ago in a book called "How to Clean Everything." 2 years ago I had my '62 Schwinn Jaguar IV respoked. The LBS did a great job. So good that the new spokes made my slightly rusted, heavily corroded rims look awful. I remembered a tip I used on the chrome work of my MVs. When I was done, both entire wheels looked great! Here's whatcha do. Take some aluminum foil, crumple it up, wet it, and rub hard over the corroded chrome. It seems to break down the corrosion, remove the rust, and fill pock-marks in the chrome finish. I think it emulsifies the surface chrome and aluminum and gives a like-new finish to the chrome. It may not work as well on heavily rusted areas where the chrome has been eaten away, but it works just fine on small pits of rust. Anyone who tries this, PLEASE let me know how it works for you.
