I noticed that in freezing weather I have a slight cog skipping problems as if the cable tension was too high: the chain is trying to grab the next larger cog when pedaling hard or uphill. It would actually skip to the next one up sometimes only to skip back down in a few seconds. It only happens with the larger cogs, above the 3rd cog and regardless of which chainring is engaged. My cables and chain are Shimano XTR and cassette is Shimano Deore and they are all only few weeks old and work fine above freezing point. I installed the cables per instructions so the grease went inside the casing. Should I lube the cables more? Is my derailleur lubricant a problem? I use this on my chain, derailleur and cogs:
