I worked there for a few years. It is a great ride. Tamiami Trail into Port Charlotte is decent ride. This part of the Trail is old Florida. It is 4 lanes divided but traffic is light pretty much all the time. Veterans is 4 lanes of not much but overgrown areas that was developed back in the 50's but remained unsold. ( Much of PC and neighboring North Port is this developed area of overgrown abandoned lots. Toledo Blade Blvd is named because the developers advertised heavily in the Toledo, Ohio newspaper back in the 60's). North Port is the second largest city in Florida. But do not let that scare you. For every 10 lots built upon, there are 20 that are not. The area looks like a patchwork from the air. People actually camp on the middle of some of the back roads where grandma and grandpa bought their lots back 30 years ago and have not been able to sell them. Kings Hwy back through PC is mostly residential 2 lane roads. 776 and across to El Jobean is a very nice recently updated 6 lanes but traffic is light much like a 2 lane. Across the harbor you will get great photo ops and of course on the beach as well. The beach route is not like a tourist infested area. It is quaint and two lanes of nice residences all the way along the key. Manasota Beach road is two lanes through a residential area. Realistically the only hair raising part of the ride will be right in the middle of Port Charlotte at the junction of the Trail and the Veterans. Hope this all helps you.
