So far this spring poison ivy has been the greatest threat. It is everywhere. It seems to be a record year due to constant rain this winter. Riding some of the trails in this area is journey through a gauntlet of potential rash. I contacted some a couple of weeks ago and thought I had the flesh eating virus. I now find myself riding with increased caution to avoid a slide off the trail into the awaiting vegetative horror.
Clouds of swarming gnats have also made an appearance. Yesterday my forehead was covered with their splattered bodies after a ride near the lake and my lung recieved a fair ingestion as well. I have also noticed the mosquitos are back as well. I am sure the snakes await, although I have yet to spot one.
