i like the way Record Titanium 8spd levers feel the best...
i would agree that shifting feel is more important than hood feel. i myself dont like the feel (or lack of feel) shimano has.
if you plan to keep this next group till it dies like your dura ace i would HIGHLY recommend campy. ergopower lever are fully rebuildable and it costs almost nothing. my record 8spd levers are original Ti levers and have an unbelievable amount of miles on them. my dad had them on 3 bikes and i am now installing them on my second bike. best of all they till perform like new.
