About 90% of my shopping is done on the way home from work, I literally ride past the store on the way home. If not commuting, it's only a 5 minute walk anyway. I will still sometimes dress up for some heavier trips that I don't want to back pack, and want to stuff it into the panniers or on the rack.
I admit that I sometimes just don't go out, and do without whatever fattening thing it was I was tempted by. If I had a car,... sometimes then, in the dead of Winter, I would not want to warm it up for such a short drive.
