You CAN teach an Old Man new tricks...

Well, perhaps not a monstrous accomplishment for all, but for the 1st time this evening, rode rollers. I had promised myself some day I'd attempt it, and that day was today.

Went to a LBS where I'd done a Comp-u-Trainer class prior to the Holidays, where the teacher / coach had been riding them one day when I went in early to warm up prior to the start. I mentioned then that riding rollers was something I'd like to try, but never had the confidence to do. Also worried that these older bones might not take too kindly to a fall. She offered to give me a lesson. I went in today, and after some guidance on mounting, starting, stopping, maintaining proper cadence, hand positioning, she set me up in a door frame and off I went.

Was a bit scary, and I know I was more rigid in my position on the bike at the beginning, but, amazingly, I did it, and managed not to slide off or shoot forward off the rollers. No falls! 40 minutes of a challenging workout. Definitely will improve your form, pedal stroke, balance and focus on a bike. I may have to go this route over the fixed trainer. I know Kreitler rollers are the "gold standard", but anyone with experience riding rollers, feel free to chime in as to recommendations.
