Hey remotelocal, thats a really pretty bike. I think there is one on ebay at the moment that is just like it. That bike is nearly identical to my Raleigh Professional, in fact maybe it is the same frame with different decals? I do notice that the seat stay caps are different and my bike does not have the chrome yours has. Does it have Campagnolo dropouts? I imagine it's roughly the same age, late 70's early 80's but I really like the older style script decals on it.

I think the best plan at this point is to ride the campagnolo wheels i hastily purchased and see what i think, but i'll hang on to the old 27" rims as well. the brakes are modolo speedy and have plenty of adjustment available to drop to a 700c rim. so the switch between wheels is a pretty painless process.
whats the deal with rear dropout width? i had kinda assumed this would be the same. learner...

and here's a shot of the wheels i bought with a trigger-happy mouse click. campag hubs (the QR's match my shifters) with omega v rims. maybe some flash as skinwall type tyres will make them sit well on the old bike? i'm just very keen on the range of 700c tyres out there...
