Yes. The threadings are the same; 1.375x24 tpi.

Yes. Red loctite/ JB weld in conjunction with a BB lockring are also used for this bumbike, suicide, or ghetto fix conversion.
I would say that if you are reasonably proficient in welding/brazing, ther would be no problem with the cog coming off.
