Saddles- You have already had a Bontrager fail on you- Don't get another. Saddle you should get is impossible for us to tell. It's your butt. Wide- gel and soft saddles are not the best. Go to your LBS and put a saddle on a low stool or step and sit on it. You will soon know the ones that don't work- but may take a few saddles to find one that does.

I can't say about the Bontrager. It felt good but I think it let go due to the crack in the seat frame on one side. The bike is an 07 so the saddle had some miles on it. Whoever had this bike prior to me definitely rode it as it has wear in all the normal places. I would maybe pick up another one if the price was right. I know the Bell wide gel top saddle I picked up at the local Wally World ain't gonna work. You are right on that. I stopped by a LBS today to pick up a set of pedals and they had a good selection of saddles there, so I'll go back there and have a seat.

I really liked the owner there who talked with me at length about my next bike. I looked at the Trek 7200 and the Fisher Tiburon. Pretty much the same frame on both. He had a good price on either but I tended to lean more toward the Fisher as it has nicer tires and doesn't use twist shifters. When I go back to look at saddles, I'll probably take the Tiburon for a test ride.
