As others keep saying, the problem with the question is that there's not some bicycle technological breakthrough that will make bikes faster. The performance difference between a $10,000 bike and a $1000 bike isn't enough to decide the outcome of a Cat 3 bike race. Now, if you spend 10x as much on a car, say moving from a $100,000 tweaked Corvette to a $1,000,000 Veyron, you're damned sure going to see a performance difference on the track. Every lap.
There just isn't an ultimate race bike.
And one with a frail BB shell seat certainly wouldn't be in the running.
