From the sounds of windshield and roof damage, it doesn't sound like a cycling helmet would have made a difference. I don't think any kind of helmet would have helped.
Nevertheless, cycling with out a helmet is total stupidity, IMHO. In the past 2 months 2 members of our bike club have taken falls that would have been fatal with out a helmet.
