Bikes: Cervelo Soloist Team, Cervelo P3C, Ritchey Breakaway Cross

We made a last minute decision to go out and use it as a training ride for Ironman St George. Rode my Cervelo P3C with the Zip 606's. Weather was almost perfect, though the afternoon tailwinds failed to materialize. When I signed up, I specified lunch at the end, as I did not want to stop for a Subway sandwich in the middle of the ride. I tighten up if I stop too long, and they had plenty of stuff when I went through, though mainly I had the bananas, PB&J, water (I carried concentrated Infinit on my bike for electrolytes and calories), and cookies (started craving the fig newtons). Quick in and out at the rest stops, and I was back at Ocotillo by 1:45. I really did not find the traffic bad, and most of the cars stayed well clear of the bikes. The roads definitely aren't great...especially the last 3 miles back to Ocotillo, which is almost like riding pave' (we actually rode the centerline of the road!!). But the lack of stop signs or lights more than made up for it!! It was a good training ride for me.
