I'm 23, though my body is not one that tolerates physical exertion all that well in general.
I use a very low gear normally, though my smallest chain ring is still 42T and I have some kind of standard shimano 5-sprocket freewheel at the back, so it's not a VERY low gear. But, still, I have to use much lower gears than I used to.
Along with the knee problems, my legs are much weaker as well. When I have a few days off the bike and then go back to it, the difference is incredible, and it reminds me of how strong a cyclist I used to be, or weak I am now.

The point where the pedals are their furthest from the saddle can be quite a dead spot, and my leg feels like it's just reaching with no muscle behind it.
I haven't noticed any knee wobble.
