Had a really good ride today. It was one of those really rare, beautiful days. Got up to the low 60's and plenty of sunshine.
I decided to go down a half paved road just across the way. It is a 3.1 mile coast to a resevoir. There is rarely any traffic on it, and only parts of it are populated, so the ride down is a good 10 min coast with no sound but you and the freewheel, or the occasional bird flushing from the grass along the side of the road. When I was scouting it out in the car yesterday, I noticed there was a rather large (country) dog unchained roaming a yard right near the end of the paved portion. I decided to stop about a half mile short of that point, and climb back up. Managed just under six miles on that trip, with an average of 11.3, about 30 mins.
I finished the ride (after a small break) doing intervals here in the neighborhood for another 4.5 miles. I am taking a break tomorrow, my liner rubbed a pretty good chaf on the back of my stump, and going to give it a day to chill along with my muscles.
