now, normally i'm totally pro conversion (i rode my 1984 norco magnum conversion here, in fact). i think it teaches valuable skills and gives a sense of accomplishment that buying an off the peg bike doesn't. but i think for a px-10, selling it is the best option by a long stretch.
It depends on the case (And with 10 posts to his name, maybe michael isn't the best person to be defending,) but there is absolutely nothing wrong with converting a nice bicycle. If you have a bicycle that has qualities that you like, and you want a fixed gear, it's stupid to sell it in order to buy a new bike. It doesn't take much to make a nice conversion starting from a nice bike, as I said, only a half decent rear wheel, ideally with a matching rim profile. I was actually about to convert my own PX-10, but the owner realized he was asking a ridiculously low price, and changed his mind at the last minute.

Michael, if that PX-10 fits you like a glove, and rides like a dream, make it a fixed gear. It will be a better bike (for you) than anything you can buy. If it's just what you have in your garage, then you can sell it for a fair bit and finance a new bike, free from french threading.

If you like the way your bike rides now, then keep it , but if it doesn't fit quite right, or it doesn't have that certain something, now is your chance to get a new bike.
