I applied 3M Scotchlite film to my commuter bike (as seen in my avatar photo) including the rims (disk brakes). Do not apply the film flush with the edge of the rim, it can cut the sidewall of the tire. A second set of tires later, with a 1/8th inch margin worked beautifully.
