Hi,
a couple suggestions. Middlebury makes a nice place to stay on a cycling trip. It's a little town, but manages to have 2 bike shops.
SO you can find parts if you need them. It's pretty, has really good restaurants, a movie theater, and it's not too far from your route. We ate a place with a name something like The River Bank. Ask when you get there for the place that has the great big windows that overlook the river. After a massive lunch we caught a movie. I hope to work it into another cycling trip one day.

Down near the bottom of the lake is Fort Ticonderoga. I was tired, and almost didn't go. I did, and I am very glad I did, it's excellent. The town that has it has a couple nice family style restaurants. We really liked The Biscquit, and stayed at the motel across the street (forget the name).

Hope you have a great time.
