I actually like the silver spokes on the black bike. There's SO much black that adding black spoked wheels would make it seem more "bland" I think. I think the way you have it schemed with small accents of color and silver spokes looks beautiful. That goes for the wellgo pedals too, Nobody ever sees the pedals when you're riding, which is when people will see your bike, so I wouldn't even worry about painting them. Shifters look like they're fairly low on the bars (or perhaps that the bars are just rotated forward in the stem clamp), and might be uncomfortable on the "hood" position, but that's preference and can't be criticized.

As far as slightly older bikes go, I think yours is beautiful and well done. There's really nothing like the joy of riding a bike that you've done all the work on. The connection you gain with cycling by being your own mechanic can only be understood once you've done it, and now you've done it. =) Although, you may now find that it's easier to upgrade since you can personally install anything else you decide to change.
