J, race took me 1:20 last year in the 4s, but that was in the lead group and many took much longer. Not sure about the 5s.
Last year they had only planned 2 cat 5 fields and added a third at the last moment, but they were all back-to-back.
It's good that they planned for a third field, and interesting that they are leaving such a big time gap, I wonder if it is intentional to allow people to do a second.
I looked this morning and there were 68 in the A field, 6 in the B field and 15 in the C field. Pretty sure there can only be 50 in each so they will have to redistribte.
UMD,
Thanks for the info.
I know it will take us (Cat5) much longer, but I just wanted to get an idea so I can make sure to make it to the start of the second race on time.
I'm already signed for the 5A and will get on the list for the 5C tonight.

Elevation profile of race
the most important thing in that race is to line up early. The climb out isn't Very steep and then it is a long downhill run to the turnaround. Position at the turbaound is critical.
On the way back it is a long gradual uphill/false flat until the climb. It ramos up to about 9-10%, eases up in the middle the. Kicks back up at the end. Altogether it averages 8% for about 1k. If there aren't people already gone by then, there will be after it.
Thanks for the elevation profile.
When I saw the elevation profile for the first time I was stunned, it just looked like a two huge mountains. I'm happy to hear that it isnt that bad and hopefully I will be able to finish the first race within 2:15, jsut in time for the second race.
I guess I will have to attack early so I get some cushion before the final climb....just kidding I will be one of those left behind.
Thanks again
J.
PS Should I test ride the course on Friday?
