Bikes: Trek 830 Mountain Track Drop bar conversion

Great ride home last night. I was hoping to sneak out a bit early and add a few extra miles to the route home, but got going a little later than I wanted, so that was out. I rode pretty hard going home, aided by a friendly tailwind.

One negative moment - about 1/4 mile from home, a bus has stopped in the opposite lane. Two cars stopped behind it as they should. Car number three - a minivan whose driver I didn't see, but I'm assuming soccer mom on a cell phone - decides there's no time to wait the ten seconds for people to get off the bus and comes way over into my lane. I know the driver hadn't seen me. If I had been taking the whole lane and not riding in the right tire track, I think it would have been a head on collision with a minivan b/c she cleared me by maybe two feet. Not good. I run a 220 lumen flashlight mounted to my handlebars (which was on high power mode at the time) and a front flashing be seen light. Guess I might need a little more, something like a "make them see me" light instead of a "be seen" light. This was along a very well lit street BTW, so even w/o lights I probably should have been visible.

Ride in this morning was fantastic. Cooler than yesterday, but still nice. Made great time and saw lots of geese along the Potomac and on the Mall.
