I know someone who works for a very large company, all of you would recognize this company, it is most likely in all of your homes. When Wal-Fart started carrying their products this company had to increase production to keep up with demand from lower Wal-Fart prices, the Wal-Fart stores were actually losing money on this product because of how cheap they were selling it for. The company expanded plants, workforce, etc., to keep up with demands from Wal-Fart. After a couple years of great business with Wal-Fart and much investing to keep up with Wal-Fart demand the giant retailer pulled the rug out from under the company. They had a meeting where they told the company they were no longer going to pay let's say a $1 per unit, they were now going to pay$.50 for the product. If they did not sell the product to Wal-Fart for $.50 the world's largest retailer would stop selling their product. The company had no choice after investing millions to keep up with Wal-Fart demands to cut prices in half in order to stay on Wal-Fart shelves. So when you see the prices drop at Wal-Fart think of this story! The earth may someday become Wal-Planet.

I always seem suprised at the deals I find at the LBS when I go in. Truth is it is nice to feel a product before you buy it. He have all ordered stuff online and felt cheated when it arrives 6 days later in the mail. I always know the product and am never suprised when I buy at the LBS. That being said I am waiting for some pedals from Nashbar as I type this Deal too good to pass up!

I think you should always give the LBS a chance to match OBS prices, if they won't or can't then at least they got the opportunity.
