Of course for casual rec riders a triple can make sense... I have no problem with someone wanting a triple if they so desire, but I do object when people try to pass them off as necessarily better than a double, standard or cmpact.
Well I suppose I could have worded it better/different. I was trying to get a point across to him as things were getting a little out of focus. I should have said wanna be's, posuer, I hadnt really concidered an amature race cyclist as a racer type. To my brain anyone who buys the licence and competes with others is a profesional, but I will have to amend that mind set. I will conceed the point, I stand corrected. I will however never like a compact crankset, I feel that they are a poor compromise in gearing. But that is my own issue I suppose.
