I was replyig to your mischaracterization of why racers don't like triples. We don't like them because we have no need for them, period. There are plenty of disadvantages and no advantages. Is that so hard to understand?
Of course for casual rec riders a triple can make sense... I have no problem with someone wanting a triple if they so desire, but I do object when people try to pass them off as necessarily better than a double, standard or cmpact.
Well I suppose I could have worded it better/different. I was trying to get a point across to him as things were getting a little out of focus. I should have said wanna be's, posuer, I hadnt really concidered an amature race cyclist as a racer type. To my brain anyone who buys the licence and competes with others is a profesional, but I will have to amend that mind set. I will conceed the point, I stand corrected. I will however never like a compact crankset, I feel that they are a poor compromise in gearing. But that is my own issue I suppose.
