A young guy wearing a backwards baseball cap, a messenger bag and an extensive tattoo on his right calf passed me on his bike this morning. I followed him until he turned off at MLK station. By that time he had accrued about 100+ yards lead on me.
I told myself:
1) He's a young guy.
2) He lives nearby and was fresh when he joined me, though I had already covered over 10 hilly miles at that point.
3) He's a young guy.
4) I was toting my usual excessive baggage, about 15 pounds worth.
5) He's a young guy.
6) He's a bike messenger, what did I expect?

8) It doesn't matter anyway.
