Your average speed is about 7 mph, which isnt too bad if your route has a lot of intersecxtions where you have to slow down for traffic. I average about 13 mph but I only have to slow down at about 5 intersections on my 17 mile commute. Search for a route with fewer places where you have to slow down. Smooth tires and a rack to take your baggage off your back would be the best things to ease your ride.
