Thanks for the guidance guys, I'm probably going to go with the trek. Right now I have two main concerns:
- 1) How much should I look to expect to haggle down + how much could I get down if I'm lucky (desperate seller) and
- 2) If I buy the Trek and the frame is in really good condition (as are all the parts) and I train with it until I have to replace and upgrade deraileurs, chain, shimano, wheels(tires too), and f/r sprockets (the whole lot) would it be possible to go into higher level racing divisions with this bike? In short what is the limiting factor to go into higher division racing, is it the frame or is it the parts?
edit- Do local bike shops generally charge for fittings, if so around how much? The last few times I went to look at the bikes I never really asked about it because I wasn't sure about this.
