Yes, I did think of using a threadless cartridge type, but I wanted a period correct and mostly original bike. If anything, I miught still consider going with a Mavic SSC unit with the tapered rings so at least it comes from the 80's VO will be considered only for last resort.
But I do have to admit that the Mavic BB could be just nother rare bird I will eventually find just as hard to find in the near future too???
Leave it to the French, they always seem to leave you frustrated and puzzled with their stuff!
