Also there are different functions for booties. All of these seem to be for rain protection. For those of us in colder climes, warmth is of more paramount interest. For that, it's hard to beat the Performance brand neoprene shoe covers...warm, cheap, tough (over 10 years on current pair).

The J&G and the MEC look interesting for the Southern US tour my wife and I are going on next spring.
I have the performance ones and they are a pain with mountain shoes I prefer and doubly so with campus peddles. Work good with road shoes and double sided SPD peddles. Nice and warm though.

Of the choices above I like the MEC. Look like they would work good with mountain shoes. Concerned about the wear on them if you tried to walk much in them.
