the Austro-Daimler bikes are very nice. and as someone mentioned above, the Germans have also made some wonderful track bikes.

i like vintage Italian bikes because they are beautifully made with great attention to detail, generally tasteful in color (although that goes out the window in the 90's), and come from a long cycling tradition. i like Japanese Keirin bikes for pretty much the same reasons, although the tradition behind them isn't as old and the great Japanese builders were trained by the Italians.
