When I ask for a BIN and the seller agrees, I always require that they set up a private auction with a legit BIN for me. That keeps it inside eBay's policies and subject to their fees. If the seller won't do that then I won't buy it; too much chance I could get scammed.

btw, do you think sniping software is "unethical"?
