Me too. Could never get the 27.2 post tight, kept slipping down during rides
Finally, just bit the bullet and got a 27.4 Kalloy that fits perfectly.
About the SS rear dropout inserts, did you tighten all the screws than attach them to the frame? Once I did that the rear wheel cleared properly. Also, the adjuster screws were binding on mine cuz the holes were tapped crooked and they didn't fit in the holes in the inserts. My solution was to remove the inserts and drill out the holes so the screws would clear.
So yeah, there are definitely some QA issues, but overall the frame is very well made and seems pretty indestructable.
