The other brand-new shoe had fallen off on the freeway somewhere; (I'd left BOTH shoes on the bumper while loading up my bike in the darkness.) It gives me a warm feeling to look at all those medals and finisher-pins, but the red shoe they are stuck to is just enough to keep my head from swelling out of control.

I just remembered another one!: After spending more than $350 on new bottom bracket, chainring, chainring bolts, chain, cleats and freewheel, my bike still had an infuriating tick when I pedaled with any kind of conviction. Turns out the *&^$% rear skewer just needed to be tightened another half-turn.

At least I have the spare drivetrain parts and the bottom bracket on hand for my new Schwinn Peloton project.
