For video, last summer I bought a Creative Labs Vado which is pretty equal to the Flip but has accessibility to the battery and is less expensive. It's easy to use but I eventually gave it to my son who is currently using it on a his trip to Thailand and India. One of the reasons I let it go was so I could justify upgrading to a GoPro Hero which Russ Roca uses on his journies. I particularly was interested in it after having the chance to talk to him about it in person last summer. And so on my wish list it went. Since, the HD wide angle version of the Hero came out and so finally last week I buckled and ordered it (UPS delivers it tomorrow). One of the things I hope to change about it is to do something to minimize the wind noise you hear on so many touring videos. I am excited!

As for a still camera, I got the Nikon D90 after being impressed with my son's D50. I brought it on tour last summer as well but have to be honest about it taking up 95% of my handlebar bag. I really love the camera and don't regret bringing it but want to reclaim my bag back so am not sure if it will come with us on RAGBRAI 2010 (or any other tours for that matter) which will be a big regret. However, for stills, maybe my wife will bring her Nikon Coolpix L12 that we used on a couple of other tours already. It takes nice pictures is very small but a battery hog. A camera that I've recently really got into is the iPhone and a number of very cool photo apps for it including a tiltshift app, photo editing app and a few other cool filters and trick apps.
